Aim

To maintain the square between being used as pitches and to ensure deep root growth and clean grass plant without stressing the plant or clay loam.

What’s involved

Maintained with the following operations: 

1. Mowing

2. Scarification

3. Fertilisation

4. Irrigation

5. Pesticides

Timing of use

During the season, usually April to September.

Effects of incorrect procedure

If grass coverage is weak and root growth poor the base for pitch standard is low, often with poor or erratic bounce and uneven surface.
