Ladders/Stepladders
Ladders are probably the most misused pieces of access equipment!
Why: Mess around with ladders/step ladders and there is only one way to go.
Outline: This talk will cover Pre-use checks, safe use of ladders and hazards.
Pre-use Checks
- Ladders must be stored correctly and inspected regularly.
- Check for splits or cracks in the stiles and rungs.
- Check for cracked or damaged welded joints, loose rivets, or damaged stays.
- Ensure that none of the rungs are missing or loose.
- Do not use painted ladders, this can hide cracks and flaws.
- Report any found defects, label as defective and remove from site ASAP.
- A ladder register can ensure no inspection is missed.

Safe Use of Ladders/Stepladders
