Fire

Reason:               Fire kills more than 1000 people each year and injures thousands more.

Why:                You can prevent fires, you can also be the cause of fires.

Outline:           This talk will cover: Fire prevention, precautions, types of extinguishers and emergency actions in the event of fire.

Fire Prevention – Here are some of the more common and easy precautions you can take:

  1. Do not allow rubbish and debris build up.
  2. Do not smoke in prohibited areas – dispose of your cigarette butt safely.

  5. Handle flammable liquids at a safe distance from sources of ignition.
  6. Do not overload electrical sockets.
  7. Check for combustible material prior to conducting any ‘hot work.’

Actions to Take in the Event of Fire

  2. Evacuate the building in which you work.

Read Evacuation Notice NOW. You will not have time in the event of a fire.

Fight the fire with extinguishers, if small enough, but do not put yourself at risk.
