What is it?

Any mixture of substances intended for preventing or controlling any unwanted species of plants and animals which cause damage or death to the grass. These include fungicides, herbicides and nematicides.

How it’s used

Used as either a preventative or controlling spray. Sometimes comes in the form of powder/granules.

Timing of use

Normally applied in the growing season for most turf pests.

Effects of incorrect procedure

Scorching of the grass plant and the death of the grass plant; this can lead to the loss of levels. Contamination of soil is a risk.

Equipment needed

Pedestrian and tractor mounted sprayers and granular spreaders.

Practical Tips

To apply a professional pesticide you need to complete a certification course of storage and application.
